To The One Who Holds My Heart

Reasons why loving you is so easy.

To the one who holds my heart,

It's impossible for me to grasp what I did to deserve such a kind and caring soul like yours. Every time someone asks me about you, my whole world lights up--the world doesn't seem like such a dark place. When they ask me about you, I never have a bad thing to say. I'm always excited to tell them everything about you and why you mean everything to me. If I had to narrow it down, I would narrow it down to these seven reasons why I love you.

1. You and your kind heart

Your compassion and kindness is astounding, and is one of the many incredible qualities that I love so much about you. I never go a day without feeling loved and appreciated, all because you go the extra mile to make me feel that way. Everyone you meet is affected by your warm and caring personality--it truly is contagious. I am blessed to be loved by someone as loving and affectionate as you.

2. You listen

You take the time and effort to understand what's wrong, not just ask. You listen to every word I say and make me feel heard. You know when the right time to answer is and the right time just to hold me while I cry. You never question my anger, but instead try to empathize and problem solve. You always make me feel so much better knowing I can count on you for anything and everything.

3. You encourage

You encourage me every single day in every aspect of my life. Not a day goes by that you are not telling me that you are proud of me. You are the first person I want to tell all of my accomplishments to, and you're the one person I know will always make me believe in myself again when all hope seems lost. You are my number one fan, and having you here means everything to me.

4. You help me be the best version of myself

I could never count the amount of times that you've helped me be the person I want to be. Because you are so good, I am always trying to find ways to better myself too. In so many ways, you are my other half, but that's what helps get me where I want to be. You help me fill in the gaps where I struggle, and you help teach me to be the best version of myself every day.

5. You challenge me

When I'm stuck in my ways and can't seem to see another view, you help me to understand that my way is not the only way. You challenge me to love people more, study harder, go on more adventures, and the list goes on. You never stop trying to get me to try new things, and often this leads to some of the most incredible adventures.

6. You accept me

Even when no one else does, you welcome me into your arms. When all I want to do is talk about my weird obsessions, favorite celebrities and movies, you don't ever judge me for it. My little quirks and imperfections--you see them, yet love them all. You don't try to change me, or make me someone that I am not. You love me for who I am, all in all.

7. You are my best friend

Being with you is like being connected with my best friend for life: my soulmate. We could talk for endless hours, or we could sit in silence without saying a word. We could have an infinite amount of lazy Sundays, or go out and have countless adventures. We never seem to run out of things to talk about or reasons to end our time together. You are the one person I want to go to for everything, and the one person I always have gone to for everything, and that's how it should be.

If I had to explain what you mean to me, I could go on for hours. These are only just a few of the countless qualities that I love so much about you and everything you do for me. You are beyond just being my person, you are my soulmate. I love you immensely, and I am so blessed. Come what may.

Thank you for being everything I need and more.

All my love,

The one who holds your heart

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
