Dear Mom,
Like any other day of the year, I love you. God knows I go without telling you most days and for that I’m sorry. The commercialization of this holiday bothers me. My love, as well as the rest of ours, shouldn’t be represented through one day full of radio advertisements about spa specials and sales on dozens of roses.
So to the mother that raised me to know that her love is never less than unconditional and never-ending, Happy Mother’s Day. The “Thank You” list below would never suffice in explaining how grateful I am for you, Mom, but I hope it helps you understand that your acts have always been noted and will forever be appreciated. I can’t draw either, so please accept my words.
Thank you for your unending patience.
Thank you for your witty and unselfish jokes.
Thank you for your classic and incomparable food.
Thank you for your warm hugs.
Thank you for your willingness to “let me explain” things.” :)
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a big brother.
Thank you for sacrificing so I would never go without.
Thank you for providing a model for my future wife.
Thank you for carrying my heavy, baby-self around for nine long months.
Thank you for your critical advice in my times of distress.
Thank you for teaching me how to extend compassion to the less fortunate.
Thank you for forgiving my reckless, teenage mistakes.
And lastly, thank you for the best motherly, kind and perfect love I could’ve ever have wished for.
You're a blessing to me and everyone around you. You deserve to hear this and much more every day, not just May 14th. To you, Mom.
Your son,
Ezra
"To all of the women we called "mom" in our lives, blood or otherwise, cheers. You're worth more than a single day."
