Ever since I can remember, my mom worked a full time job. Between the numerous after-school cares, always being on her phone and constantly being busy, sometimes I felt like I was fighting for her attention. However, at a very young age, I learned a big lesson. My working mom taught me that not everything in life is free, and that a woman's role in the work place is just as important as a man's.
Even with her working full time, my mom never missed an elementary school Christmas party, always had dinner on the table and made sure to go to every dance recital. Sometimes we were even allowed to visit her at work and were able to see all the cool things she does.
My working mom taught me the most important lesson that the movies don't tell kids. She taught me that sometimes it's OK if Dad has to make dinner. Women can have jobs and still be able to be mothers at the same time, and they can excel and even be better than men at what they do.
Being a little girl with a strong female figure in my life has shaped not only my work ethic, but my entire life, as well. I know in the future that I can do whatever the hell I want and still be able to have my own kids someday. I am not scared of any big-wig man or company that will cross my path. I am a strong woman who can conquer anything with a little bit of hard work and passion.
I owe all these qualities to the lady who sometimes had to stay at work late at night, to the lady who would still tuck us in every night even if her feet hurt from running around all day, to the lady who is my own Wonder Woman because she showed me we can have it all with balance.
So thank you, Mom, for being a hard-working woman in a young girl's life. You have inspired me, you still inspire me and always will inspire me. Your story of dedication to your career and family is the greatest lesson you've ever taught me.
