To The Man I Give My Heart

Loving you is the hardest thing I've ever wanted to do

First of all, let me express to you how special you are to me. I've never been truly vulnerable to someone before, but you have made me feel safe enough to let you break down the walls I've built for the sole purpose of guarding my heart.

Thank you for not giving up on me because I know I'm not easy to deal with on a daily basis. I'm entrusting you with my heart because you have given me so many reasons to believe that you can take care of it. You are easy-going, well-respected, and trustworthy. You are someone I can imagine "doing life" with by my side.

Falling in love is not something that I take lightly. I've been disappointed by too many people in my life to just throw out the "L" word. Love is more than an emotion. Love is a choice. Fighting for someone every day is how love works.

I will not give up on you whether it be in your personal or professional life. I will always pursue you and put your needs above my own. You are the most important person in my life and I will cherish you always, whether we work out or not. Maybe you don't reciprocate my feelings, and that's fine. Life is too short for me to hide how I feel about you for the sake of mere pride.

I do not show my emotions easily. I have been broken down too many times by people who were actually supposed to be in my life to help put me back together. Giving you the most sacred part of my body is the hardest thing I've ever done. I know I can never completely have my heart back once you take it from me.

I am believing that God has led you to me and has allowed me to feel the way I do for a purpose. I want our relationship to be centered around Jesus Christ. We will have hard times, but know I will never give up on you. I will strive to bring you closer to the Lord with encouraging words and acts of kindness. I cannot promise you that I will be anything close to perfect. I am not the most beautiful or intelligent girl you will ever meet, but I have chosen you to love.

I want to take care of you during your best and worst days. I want to be there for you during every lonely night and exciting moment. If you decide to give your heart to me in return, I know we can make wonderful things happen together. All I want is to have someone to share life's most precious moments with and I choose you. Most of us have less than one hundred years to live on this earth and I'm not going to waste any time hiding how I feel about you.

Do not be afraid of the future. Be excited about it and embrace the changes as they come. Take a risk and be brave enough to accept the consequences if there are any. I will always believe in you. Thank you for giving me a reason to open my heart to someone again. You'll never know how much I appreciate you in my life.

With all of my heart,
A very optimistic girl

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
