I’ve always been the kind of person to keep in touch with old friends. Catching up with acquaintances every so often is something I really enjoy doing no matter if they’re from middle school, high school, camp or any other life activity from the past. Lucky for me, I have found my lifelong friends somewhere along the way. Whether we haven’t talked in weeks, or we are texting right now, some friends you can just tell that they will be with you forever. Thank you so much for showing me how a true friend acts.
There are terrible times when I have been missing home and needing a shoulder to cry on. There are times I fail a test and you tell me I will do better next time. There are times when a boy pulls a dumb move and you are there to listen for hours. The times you offer and follow through with driving me the whole way home after a bad experience the night before. The times that I text you all night long complaining about who knows what. What about the times I have too much fun on a night out and you walk me home? And the times that I am frustrated and you FaceTime me. You are always there for me.
There are completely amazing times when I get an interview for a position I want and you are more excited for me than I am myself. There are times when you take me to Chick-Fil-A even when you wanted BBops. The times when your family brings me out to dinner and makes me feel like I am one of them. The times when you come study with me at the library because you know I need motivation to ace this next exam. The times when you text me every Monday encouraging me to workout. The times when you make me laugh uncontrollably, to the point where I don’t even know what we are laughing about anymore. The times when I ask “do I look fat in this?” and you say yes because you will always be straight up with me. You are always there for me.
During all these awful AND remarkable times, you have always been there for me, and I know you always will be. You support the things I do, you are happy for me when I succeed, and you pick me up when I’m down. You have shown me traits of how a lifelong friend acts. You have shown me how to be selfless and kind-hearted. You have made me want to be a better friend to everyone I encounter, and to be a better friend to you. So, my dear lifelong friend, thank you for teaching me how a true friend acts.
