Being a sister can be a scary thing. If you’re an older sister, you sometimes have to involuntarily take on the role of a mother. But if you’re a younger sister, you’re somehow involuntarily forced to look up to them. Lucky for me, I get to play both roles. Neither of these jobs is easy, especially considering both of my sisters are obnoxiously loud divas, but hey, so am I.
No matter how annoying they are, I still love them beyond words, which is why nothing brings me greater joy than knowing that they both have incredible men there to watch them when I’m not around. Being that they are both way too rude for their own good, it’s a wonder how their significant others can put up with them for so long. But I’d just like to say one thing to these marvelous men: thank you.
Thank you for being there for them when they need a shoulder to cry on. Thank you for sticking around through all of the good and bad times, especially because I know that there are probably a lot of times when you want to run for the hills. Thank you for choosing to be a part of this chaotic family.
Thank you for loving them no matter how stubborn they are. Thank you for not being scared when they put away more food than you can count and then ask for seconds. Thank you for treating them like the spoiled princesses they think they are. Thank you for loving them even though they are beyond lazy. Thank you for causing them more laughter than tears. Thank you for treating our family as if we were your own. Thank you for the great stories about the stupid things they do on a daily basis. Thank you for earning my trust and assuring me that you won’t break their hearts. Thank you for making them feel loved. Thank you for giving them someone to love. Thank you for being you.
The overprotective older sister in me wants to hate you because she’s basically just a baby and should still believe in cooties, but you make it so darn hard because you’re just such a perfect gentleman towards her. The younger sister in me wants to be jealous because you stole my sister away from us, but I can’t because you’ve made her the happiest girl in the world, which I can see by how many beautifully annoying kids you have together. You don’t get to pick your family, so I know why I’m stuck with these hooligans, but I don’t know why you guys are still here. But thank you so much for sticking around anyway. I couldn’t have asked for better men for my sisters to be with.
