When I met you, I had a dream in my head. I was going to ride for the US Paralympic team, and when I looked into your big trusting eyes for the first time, I knew I could make it.
The first time we met, it was raining and I came to the farm to see you. For a reason I still don't know, I was drawn to you; something about you just seemed to calm me.
The next week, we rode together for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect from our first lesson together, but when I walked you into the ring, you knew exactly what to do. Months passed, and you saw me at my best and at my worst, nuzzled me when I needed to feel better and you made me a better person.
Now, I'm close to starting college, and I keep thinking about the memories we have and will continue to make. When I'm with you, I know what true freedom feels like, I feel confident in me and I know that I have a lifelong friend in you.
"A horse is the projection of peoples' dreams about themselves - strong, powerful, beautiful - and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence." - Pam Brown.
Thanks you, sweet boy for reminding me to be me and helping me dream my wildest dreams!
Love,
The rider who's life you changed
