To The Guy I'm Praying For

I'm patiently waiting for you.

To My Future Husband,

I have been praying for you for so long. I imagine finally meeting you and knowing that you are the person I’m going to fall in love with next. You might not be my forever, and that’s okay because you will serve a special purpose in my life. I imagine what color your eyes will be, what kind of relationship we will have, and WHEN I will meet you.

I have been praying for your life and for whatever you’re going through. I pray that you go to church on Sunday’s and pray regularly. I pray for your heart and I hope it hasn’t been broken many times. I can’t wait to meet your family and hear all about your hopes and dreams. I want to hear about your past and what has shaped you into the person you are today. I want to know your heart. I want to be different then the girls that have hurt you in the past. I want to make new memories with you and help you heal from the bad ones. I want you to show me you’re different from my past guys. I hope you understand why I built up walls and I pray that you’re patient with me through getting past these walls and emotional roadblocks.

I want you to be my person, the person I can go to for support, to take care of me when I’m sick, to seek spiritual advice or the person I can call just to talk about my day. I want you to be you and allow me to be me. I want honesty, selfishness and genuine love. I want to listen to what you want and need. I want to be everything you want and more. I want a Meredith and Derek relationship. I want you to call “Post- It” when I try to walk away. I want candles in the shape of our dream house. I want you to be my McDreamy. I want to never stop fighting for you and for you to do the same for me.

All in all, I want to know you aren’t walking away or giving up on me. I want you to make promises to me that you will keep. I want to make plans together that will actually happen. I will continue to pray for you and your well-being. I will pray for you now, but one day I will pray with you. I can’t wait for the day I can give this letter to you.

I’m patiently waiting for you.

“And then I met you. You were like coming up for fresh air. It’s like I was drowning and you saved me. That’s all I know” – Derek Shepherd

“Okay here it is. Your choice. It’s simple. Her or me. And I’m sure she’ s really great. But Derek, I love you, in a really, really big – pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window – unfortunate way that makes me hate you, love you. So pick me. Choose me. Love me.” – Meredith Grey

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
