To The Girl That Has Never Been In Love

Hey You.

Yea, you.

We are in the same boat.

I know that When you think about dating, you picture those perfect Nicholas Sparks movies. You picture that when you find ‘the one’, it’ll be like Ronnie and Will in The Last Song, or like Sophia and Luke from The Longest Ride. Where this handsome hunk of a guy will just ride in and sweep you off your feet.

The problem with dating in today’s society is that girls have this high expectation of what a ‘perfect relationship’ should be….

We have Nicholas Sparks to thank for that.

We can thank him for setting those high, unrealistic expectations that every girl can only dream of, but few can actually get.

It seems like we are stuck in this unstoppable cycle of attracting guys that only want one thing. The sucky part is, when you are unwilling to give them that, they walk.

That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but you question yourself. You question if you’ll ever find a guy thats actually interested in YOU, not just ‘getting with’ you.

You'll be OK. JUST WAIT.

Right now God is teaching us girls what we deserve. I guess his way of doing that, is exposing us to all the jerks first?

I think girls our age are so ready to find 'the one,' instead of finding themselves first. We long for those 'relationship goals', and we long for that 'picture perfect' guy that Nicholas Sparks has embedded into our head.

You'll be okay.

We've walked away from our relationship with God while looking for some dude that may, or may not be out there. Nothing is promised. No one promised that you'd find the perfect guy. No one promised that you'd get married. And no one promised that you'd have kids.

Keep your eyes and heart on the Lord, and maybe, just maybe, a man doing the same thing will find you.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
