An Open Letter To The Girl Who Tries Too Hard

You’re trying, I know you are. But it seems like nothing’s going right, no matter how much you try.

You give it your all, you put your heart, soul, and spirit into your actions and your work, but the universe doesn’t seem to reciprocate with you. You don’t understand, and you’re baffled.

You only mean the best 100% of the time. And you realize, it’s because you care.

It’s not your fault, you have a big, warm, red heart on your sleeve. You care about the people you love, about the people who love you; and you would want nothing more but to make them happy.

Humans make mistakes—it’s part of human error. It’s a normal, everyday thing. I would be shocked if I ever found a perfect person roaming this earth without human error of some sort—in which, there is none a perfect person who doesn’t mess up sometimes.

People mess up, friends mess up, family messes up, and it’s all apart of life. Sometimes, you’ll mess up and you won't know how to fix it or where to turn— but keep trying.

The universe knows you’re trying, so don’t be so hard on yourself. Don’t beat yourself up, because life is full of lessons in which you will learn along the way.

Don’t ever let the world turn your heart bitter and cold; don’t ever stop caring—that’s not who you are.

Always continue to love wholly, truly, and honestly and the universe will love you right back.

The Perks of Being a Girl

“I just want you to know that you’re very special… and the only reason I’m telling you is that I don’t know if anyone else ever has.”

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
