It's in our human nature to always be searching, it's true. What we have never seems to be enough... we want more. What we search for depends on our circumstances and who we are as individuals. Some of us are searching for love, others for acceptance. Maybe you're trying to find success, or maybe it's that perfect guy that you know is somewhere out there. Yeah, that one sounds the most common these days... Let's focus on that for now. If you're that girl, don't feel stupid for what you want — you're far from alone. I'm extremely guilty of this, we all are. The real question here is why. Why are we constantly craving someone to give us attention?
Throw all the specifics aside. What are we truly hoping to find when we're searching? Happiness. Why do we feel like we would be happier if we had someone to talk to 24/7, or why do we crave those good morning/ goodnight texts? Seriously, really think about that for a second. Many times I have wondered if this is something that has been planted into our minds by society, or even by our friends. Don't get me wrong, I'm genuinely happy for my friends in relationships, and I'm thankful that they've found someone to treat them like princesses- they deserve it. But for the ones who haven't found their Prince Charming yet, stop searching. You're better than that.
While you're using all of your energy trying to find someone to make you happy, you're missing out on an amazing adventure that's right in front of you. It may not always seem like it, but you are so fortunate to have this time to yourself. Take this opportunity to learn, to grow. You will grow in so many ways that you didn't know possible. Really get to know yourself. Often times, we are so caught up in others that we forget about ourselves and who we are. We forget that we have likes and dislikes, opinions and beliefs. Re-learn who you are, I promise you won't regret it.
This is your time to be selfish. It's all about you right now. You can do anything you want. You can travel. You can strengthen your relationships with others, whether that's in a spiritual way, or with your family / friends. You can pack all your things and move to a new city. You can cross off of your bucket list — do those things you've always wanted to do. You can focus on your education, or your career. You can focus on things that are important to YOU. Take a look around you, realize how beautiful life is without all of the distractions. You won't always have this chance, don't let it pass by.
One day, you'll find what you've always been looking for. I believe that with all of my heart. You'll find acceptance, you'll find success, and believe it or not, you'll even find that perfect guy that God made just for you.
But for now, stop being the girl that's always searching to find. Stop hoping for text messages, stop scrolling through social media to find entertainment every chance you get. Find something else instead. Find your self worth again. Find who you are, what you believe in. Find someone that knows you better than anyone on this planet. Find you. Find you, instead. I have a feeling you're pretty incredible.
