To The Girl Who Puts Everyone Else First

To those people out there who feel like they are totally and completely alone, you aren't!

You may seem like someone without any problems, or someone who takes on the world and doesn't let anything get to her. The truth is sometimes you just want someone to be there for you instead of it being the other way around. Your whole life you have put the feelings of others before your own even if it means you get your heart broken. All you care about is that your friends are happy and can do their best in life.

When it comes to your own life though, you tend to put it on the back burner so you can help your friends. When they ask if you are okay, you just say yeah I'm fine, but the truth is you're not fine! You are a complete mess, and you feel like your whole world is falling apart. Everyone comes to you with their problems, but you don't have anyone to go to with your own problems. Everyone in the world has problems, it's just that some people handle those problems themselves, or they will bury the problem until it doesn't seem relevant anymore.

I have always been that girl, the one who puts everyone else first and never asks for help in return. This is my plea to everyone who thinks they are alone! You are not. There are others out there in this world who are going through the same thing you are, and they don't know what to do either. Ask for help. There is NEVER anything wrong with needing some help every once in a while.

I only realized this recently, but since I realized there are people out there willing to help me too, I have never felt better. All you have to do is ask, confide in a trusted friend (like I did), a teacher or professor, or even your parents. You may think no one is out there, but there is and all you have to do is ask. Seriously, asking for help was the best thing I ever did. I now confide in one of my best friends when I am feeling down, and they are always there to help me back up. Never forget no one should go through ANYTHING alone.

Sincerely,

A fellow girl who puts everyone first.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
