To The Girl Who Is "Too Much"

If you were told you're "too much" of something.

Do not apologize. Don't say sorry for being too open, too forgiving, or "too" anything, really. The only problem with having too much patience or being too sensitive is that society doesn't know to cope with your excess. But that is not your fault so don't apologize. People are scared of being less than what they should be so as a result, they will shame you for being too much of something. Stand your ground because saying sorry doesn't change a predetermined opinion.

Do not question yourself. Don't wonder how you would be different if it wasn't for this or that. You are you because there is no one else in the world who could handle the challenge of being you. Wishing to be someone else or have the personality of another isn't a wish that you want to come true. You are loved and cherished by those around you because you are unique. Do you think it would be just as fun to have two of the same person? No, and that's why you are you and I am me.

Do not doubt your purpose. You are here to bring smiles to sad faces, love to empty hearts, and quality to the lives of many. Your purpose is not something to mess with, it is the reason you are where you are and the reason why you encounter the people you do. Enlarge your purpose. Make it as big and bountiful as you can, let your purpose speak across the world and let the magic of you work on those who it was meant to work on.

Do not change. Being different isn't a bad thing, so why do you feel like it is? Only because people all your life told you that you are too accommodating, too much of a romantic, you dream too much. So, in turn, you've felt the need to suppress all of the qualities that make you you. No matter if you cry in public a little less or stop trusting those who aren't close enough, you won't achieve the change that others expect of you. Even if you did though, it would never be enough and there will always be another thing they're saying you need to change. How much can you change before you disappear into the world?

Do not be afraid. Why worry? Why worry about the people who don't appreciate you as you are? You are too concerned with convincing people that you are worthy of love or acceptance and that's a hamster wheel you don't want to run on. You will always be too much of something and that is my favorite quality of yours. You are too happy, too sweet, and too funny sometimes. Don't stress over the people who tell you being too much of anything is a bad thing. Don't listen to them and continue to be too much because being too little isn't as much fun anyways.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
