To The Girl Who Dreams Of Her Future Career

To The Girl Who Dreams Of Her Future Career

When I take a moment to think about what I want my future to look like, I envision a lot of different things. I picture my best friends becoming my bridesmaids, my boyfriend becoming my husband, and a golden retriever puppy running around in our backyard. I just can't wait to live in a God filled home while doing life with my closest friends and family. Although I am filled with pure joy whenever I think of this life, I also dream of my own personal growth. Above all I anticipate my passions manifesting themselves into a career that I love.

Growing up, I could tell right away that I wasn't one of those girls who would be content with just staying home and taking care of the household chores. Don't get me wrong-- I love cooking, cleaning and taking care of cute little bundles of joy-- but I knew that God had bigger plans for me when he put me on this Earth.

When I think of what brings me the most happiness, being in a profession that is both fulfilling and stimulating is one of the first things on that list. I can only hope that I will have a successful career one day, and that I will be able to make a positive impact on those who I encounter.

To the girls who look at their future and get excited by all of the endless possibilities-- keep doing you honey. Don't be afraid to attend college, get that degree, or further your education-- in the long run you will know that you will be able to support yourself no matter what. Having the determination to go after your dreams such a valued attribute, and something you should never be ashamed of.

So while yes, I do look forward to getting married and having a family one day, but not anytime soon. And I think that is perfectly okay. I have goals that I want to accomplish in the meantime. I think that it is so important that as women we develop our own dreams and passions outside of our relationships, because this is what defines us as human beings.

I hope that you are inspired to follow your own talents, and that you find a career that will both excite you each morning and make it hard to leave the office (or maybe not an office?) each night. Do not get discouraged about what society perceives as what the role of a women should be, and instead focus on doing whatever it is that makes YOU happy.

As women we can do so much, and I look forward to the day when I can come home from my dream job and look at my husband with my child in my arms, and say that I am truly successful in all aspects of my life.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
