To The Girl I Met In Line At A Frat Bathroom

Thank you for boosting my confidence when I definitely wasn't feeling fab that night.

To The Girl I Met In Line At A Frat Bathroom

I swear, it happens every single night that you go out without fail.

You'll be in a frat, dancing your worries away on the elevated surface when you realize you need to sprint to the bathroom A$AP rocky. (Whether that be to pee or get sick. It happens.)

Unless you decide to run upstairs onto the second or third floor bathroom, there is almost ALWAYS a super long line full of fellow girls who are about to pee their pants. This is the place where you will meet some of the bubbliest, nicest girls in the world.

Though the conversation is different every time, each one never fails to be amazing, funny, and even sometimes empowering. Where else can you meet a stranger and bond over literally anything?

To the girl I ranted to about a guy who was pissing me off at the current moment:

Thank you for turning into my temporary therapist for a hot minute, telling me that I was beautiful and can do waaaay better than him even though you've never actually seen him (or even know who he is for that matter). Shout out to you, girl, for being there when I needed it the most.

To the girl who complimented me 12 times:

Thank you for boosting my confidence when I definitely wasn't feeling fab that night. Just as I was looking in the mirror and just completely not feeling my outfit, you came in and flipped my opinion about it.

To the girl who let me know that my choker was on backwards/my tag was sticking out/I had mascara smeared on my face:

Thank you for being a real one. We all gotta look out for each other these days.

To the stranger that wiped my tears as I snuck away to the bathroom to cry (whether it be for a rational or irrational reason):

Thank you for being so understanding, even if I was crying for absolutely no reason...

To the girl that lent me a hair tie when my hair was looking not so fab:

Thank you for helping a sister out in a true time of need. We all know that sweaty frats are not the most ideal place to be stuck without a scrunchie.

The only real downfall to these stories is knowing that you most likely won't see the girl again, even though you know for a fact you could be instant besties with them.

The only time you really have the guts to ask for their number or Snapchat are the times when you are feeling suuuuper friendly.

Minutes later you give them a huge hug and say your goodbyes only to come back to the bathroom an hour or two later and repeat the process all over again.

Well, to say the least, THANK YOU to all of the random girls that I have met in frat bathrooms for being super amazing for the 5-10 minutes that we spent waiting in line for the less than pleasant frat toilets.

Peace and blessings my soul sistas. Hope you're doing well.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
