To The Girl Weathering A Season Of Change, Remember This

Sweet girl,

As you know, there are two types of change that happen throughout life. First, change that is incredible and exactly what is needed, easy change. Second, change that is heart-wrenching and flips out the world around, extremely difficult change. No matter the change that you are currently going through, I am here to tell you that you are going to be OK, I promise.

You aren't alone.

Take a view minutes throughout each day to reflect on the individuals who you spent time with for the last 24 hours. What did these hours consist of? During a season of change, it is easy to feel isolated and alone. However, sister, there are so many people that love and care for you. Please never forget that.

Never lose hope.

Even when it is easy to give up when life throws road bumps in your path, never ever lose hope. Try to think of things from a new perspective. Yes, this person may have walked out of your life but there was a reason. God is moving this person to make room for someone even better.

This is going to take time.

No matter which type of change you are experiencing, it is going to take time to adjust. Nothing will be a night and day difference overnight. During this time of healing, take care of YOU. Do things you love with the people you love.

Don't forget to explore.

Even if you've been on this earth for 40-plus years, you learn and grow every single day. Make a bucket list, short-term goals, try 10 things new this week, don't live this one life you get just going through the motions.

Stay inspired.

Whether you dive deep into God's word, a new self-help book, or even simply make a Pinterest board of all your favorite quotes, always stay inspired. Inspiration is something that will push you to be the best version of you, even during the most difficult times in life.

Clean out the negativity.

Negative people, perfectionism, judgment, self-doubt, assuming the worst in situations, complaining, or obsessing over control... the list could go on and on. You are never going to grow if you are surrounding yourself with this intense negativity. Filter it all out girlfriend, you'll see an incredible change.

Count your blessings.

Look around you. There are so many blessings, even within this crazy season of change. You woke up today. Yes, you may have a day full of work and school, but how lucky are we to get to have education and the opportunity to pick a career we love. You may have an entire week until payday, but wow we get to work and earn money to be able to live a happy life, how awesome is that!

This may be a season of change, but you will never grow into an incredible woman you are capable of being if you remain the same. Change isn't going to grow you if it isn't scary! We are going to get through this together, God gave us a community to wrap our arms around mountain movers like you.

Sincerely,

The girl who 100% understands what you're feeling

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
