To The Friend Who Left

Sometimes life just happens and I get that. Why leave without an explanation though?

To my friend who left. This one is for you.

You didn't have to leave, but you did and I don't know why.

Thank you for showing me that it is ok to have a sassy attitude.

But surround yourself with people who can handle it.

Thank you for having my back when I needed it.

What most people do not know is that the calm and collected texts they received back was all you and not me (because we all know I would not have been that nice).

Thank you for sticking around as long as you did.

We know it isn't easy.

Thank you for always telling me what I needed to hear.

Rather than what I wanted to hear.

Thank you for always saying you were hungry.

I never had to worry about eating alone, because you were "always hungry".

Thank you for the pictures.

I love memories and we had some good ones.

Thank you for always supporting me in whatever I did.

If I wanted to go rob Qdoba I knew you would be right there beside me. Or steal an elderly man...

Thank you for the laughs.

Even when I wanted to cry.

Thank you for the random trips.

Even the ones that never happened, but they were always planned. Just in case.

Thank you for always answering when I called.

And if you didn't then you knew your phone was about to blow uppppp. Probably never important as I thought they were, but you always acted like you cared.

Thank you.

Thank you for showing me in that short amount of time that life was never as serious as I thought it was.

Thank you for no longer being there for me.

Sometimes that is how life works out sometimes. Things happen and people turn out how you never thought they would be. I am ok with it though. You have made me realize that some friendships are temporary, but never take a moment with them for granted.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
