To The Family Who I Can't Call Family Anymore

I'm sure you don't care, but I'm doing just fine without you.

Here's to my family who isn't my family anymore,

In case you were wondering. I'm doing OK. Actually, I'm doing great. I've graduated high school and I'm halfway through college. Who would have thought it would be this long since we've talked? I thought you were always going to be a part of my life, because family is always supposed to be a part of your life... right?

Wrong.

To all of those people who thought their extended family would remain in their lives forever and have been given a different awakening, I know how you feel. You would think that family is forever, but those relatives that a lot of us seem to have have proven us completly wrong. Blood may make you related, but loyalty will make you family. It is not about who shares the same DNA as you, but simply who has stood by your side when everything in your life has completly crumbled. When our lives got exteremly hard, you guys did not hesitate to look the other way. Family will never let one another fall, when in fact you guys were the one who pushed us over.

I'm not saying you should spend your time upset with how your blood relatives seemed to have turned their backs on you; I'm saying you should spend your time thanking them. Yeah, you read that right.

Thank them for teaching you that family might be everything, but family is not forever. Especially your extended family. Usually those are the ones who surprise you the most. Those aunts and uncles who don't even know what grade you're in, let alone how old you are. Thank you for allowing me to accept the fact that family isn't always blood, because sometimes your blood relatives are the ones who will turn on you the fastest.

So, for all of you who know how it feels to be forgotten about by relatives you might have tried to keep in your life, you're not alone. You have to remember that you're better then they ever will be.

Thank you to the family who has forgotten about me, because of the actions done by someone other than myself. You are missing out on my life and I am OK with that, because I am doing just fine without you guys in it.

In case you were wondering.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
