Dear Dad,
I want to say thank you for everything. I know you don’t hear this enough from me and I really should say it more often rather than just rolling my eyes at you when you try to give me life advice, but now I am saying it loud and clear for the whole world to hear: thank you. I don’t even think those two words are enough to express how much I appreciate and love you for being such a fundamental part of my life.
There are so many things that you have done for me in my life. You coached me in softball, you taught me how to ride a bike, you shared your love for history with me, and you always brought me back pieces of the places you would visit. You had confidence in me that I had yet to discover, you loved me enough for two parents, you were always patient with me when I was being a brat, and above all else: you were (and still are) the person I can go to for anything.
And all throughout the things you did for me, I know you went through some hard times too, yet you still never failed to make my life bright. You always put me first, above everything else, and pushed through your own struggles to help me with mine. You deserve the world for all you have done for me and I’m so happy that you have found your own happiness these last few years.
Now that I’m off to school, please know that even when I forget to call you, I am still using the knowledge and values you taught me every single day. Even when I roll my eyes at another one of your “lectures”, I still love you. And when I am off making the world my own, I am becoming the person you helped make me become.
You have made me who I am today, Dad, and for that, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to thank you enough.
From,
Your Ever Grateful Daughter
