To the College Students Not Graduating on Time

When I entered college, I was convinced that my college career would be four years. I would be adulting and enjoying my future career after FOUR years. So when I decided that majoring in education was perfect for me and having not one, but two majors would be the best route for getting a teaching job. I went into the office of advising and made my "four year college plan" and when my dual major takes five and a half, and my step dad passes away at the end of one of my semesters, it pushed me back to a six year plan. But you know what, I'm doing it... And you are, too.

So to those of you who double major, YOU GO GLEN COCO.
Double majoring is so awesome. You'll be more marketable in the field you go into. So even though it may take you longer than four years, you'll do it. Keep on going. You aren't alone and you will walk one day, and I'll be so proud of you when you do.

To those of you who took time off, TIME IS ALL YOU HAVE!
Well, obviously you needed it, but you're back now. You're a true rock star for coming back to college to get that degree that you've worked so hard for.

To those of you who had LIFE happen to them... LIFE IS CHAOTIC!
Well, you know life does happen and we have to balance a lot during college. Nobody JUST goes to college. There's always other things pulling us different ways. Family, children, significant others, finances, a loss of a loved one, etc. You name it.

To everyone graduating "late," you are graduating. You are succeeding. You are trying. You are getting somewhere in life. So when you're like me and see students that graduated with you in high school that are graduating after their four years in college, don't worry. You aren't alone. You'll finish because you rock, just don't give up.

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.
