Congratulations you college grad you. You did it! You have officially managed to turn in your papers on time, pretend that everything is okay and obtain a college degree, which is impossible for many. Now that you're finished, be prepared for life to get real. When I say that, I mean that in the nicest way possible.
No longer does life consist coffee dates or Netflix episodes between classes, although I hoped you enjoyed it. Now, your life consists of staying at a computer all day and night applying for jobs, traveling from business to business trying to sell yourself and lots of hours questioning where you fit in the grand scheme of life. Don't fret though, I am here to tell you it is okay.
To the college graduate who has no clue, never doubt who you are and never sell yourself for anything short. What I mean here is that you have sacrificed years of your life to challenge and educate yourself in a college, right? There were trials, challenges and sacrifices made to get the job done. I know it hurt, but it helped get you to where you are.
In my opinion, a GPA and a degree help score you the interview, or at least get you noticed by an employer. But it is your confidence and personality that scores you the job. Never doubt who you are and how much you've learned. Instead, continue to grow and challenge yourself, but never stop. The only way to be successful is to take the silence of your doubt and make it your noise. When you have doubt, it means you are afraid. You become afraid of your own skill and if you let it, it will not blossom to it's full potential.
To the college graduate who has no clue, you are not alone. Everyone in the adult world is just faking it until they make it, but be prepared to stand out. You were able to obtain a college degree and make your family and friends proud. Now, it is your chance to make yourself proud. The ones who succeed in life were always the ones who stood out above the rest. Find out what makes you more unique than everyone else, nurture that gift and love every minute of it. You won't be sorry.
