The first last of your sorority's final events, senior year Bid Day, has been something you've been both dreading and looking forward to since you were a freshman walking into your new chapter. Now that you're an old pro, being a senior on Bid Day means rocking your theme to the extreme, wild dancing, and an insane amount of pictures. Tears will probably be shed, but don't let that distract you from the celebration. Take pictures with people you haven't been too close with, both within your new member class and not. These people are the ones who have seen you at your 2 a.m. night before Preference Round, and still love you. Add a ton of pictures onto your Snapchat story for the heck of it, and request "Wanna Be" for the 100th time.
But most importantly, focus on the new member class walking through the doors and looking younger than you ever think you did freshman year (but trust me, you looked that young too). Senior, try and remember how put together, old, and intimidating you may seem to these new members, and go out of your way to make them feel comfortable. Dance with them, show them how to throw up their sorority sign, and offer to take their picture. Learn their names and welcome them into your home, for they will be the legacy you are leaving behind in just a few short months.
Senior, for one day forget about the stress that leaving college, career fairs, and seminars create in your final year of college and go back to the moment you opened your bid and joined your chapter, your home. Instead of being sad and nostalgic about celebrating your final Bid Day, revel in the joy that new members will be able to create the same amazing memories you have throughout these years.
And remember, "it isn't four years, it's for life."
(Yes, I groaned when writing it too, but its true!!!!)
