Our relationship has always been pretty strong. We rarely fight, and when we do, it is just ignoring each other for 20 minutes and then we are best friends again. We have gotten along, shared secrets, and had so many fun times hanging out together. Recently, there have been some major changes in my life that have shifted our relationship. Since I’ve moved into college, we do not talk as much, and I have some things I want you to know.
First and most important, you are still my best friend. I will still tell you everything that’s going on in my life, about boys, and softball. Just because we do not talk everyday does not mean I will stop sharing my life with you, and I hope you feel the same. I don’t care that I am an hour and a half away, I still want you to text or call me if you have a bad day, or are excited to tell me about a boy, or you got a good grade on a project. I want to hear it all, and I will do the same.
I miss having someone to joke around with about something stupid Dad said or we made fun of Mom for something she did. I miss our dates at the mall and going out for burgers, or ice cream at 11 at night. I miss driving around town blaring the music, laughing and having fun with you. Remember when we used to play Mario Kart on our DS at night trying to hide from Mom and Dad? Or when you would sneak up to my room to watch youtube videos with me.
You may not think college is that close, but time passes quickly in high school, believe me. It will happen soon enough. I know this may sound scary to you, and I was scared, but it is honestly one of the best experiences of my life. You will fit in perfectly and make so many amazing friends because you are an amazing person. I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you will do and watch you succeed in life.
I know you won’t steal the cats from me, Gracie will still sleep with me when I come back, that much I know. I also know you will not steal my room, but you are welcome to sleep in the extra bed anytime you want. But enough kidding aside, I really do miss you. College is a great experience, but it does suck that I have to be away from you, but it is not permanent.
In just a short period of time I will see you play softball again for the high school season and your entire summer season. We will have amazing summer nights and spend lots of time together, I can’t wait to see you again. I hope you know you are welcome anytime to visit me in college and stay overnight. I love and miss you.
Love,
Kayleigh
