“Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places
You're off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.” – Dr. Suess, "Oh, the Places You’ll Go"
You did it! You are almost a graduate, you are done with one chapter and ready to begin your next: college. It seems like just the other day we were fighting over who was taller (obviously you now) or who was the favorite child (a question still up for debate), but today or this week none of that matters. I may not say it enough, but I could not be more proud of you.
I’m sorry for trying to be your "second mother" at times and for giving you a hard time when we were younger, because you have turned out to be quite awesome. Look at all you have done, and now it is time for the next big journey.
Graduation is coming and it will be a big day. Don’t forget to take it all in. Mom is going to be emotional; just prepare yourself, smile, and wave. You are not going to want to take a bunch of pictures, but just do it; it will make everyone happy and these are memories you will have forever. It’s going to be crazy, between family and friends all around you just be cool, because everyone is here for you. Don’t trip; figured I would throw that in -- nothing would be more embarrassing than that.
Know that when they call your name we will all be standing cheering, and I’ll probably be snapping pictures nonstop because we could not be more proud. For me you are the best younger brother I could ask for. You know just how to drive me crazy, how to make me laugh, how to get me angry in no time and cheer me up just as fast. There is no one I would rather jam with in the car while running errands for Mom. You are a perfect example of someone who is brave, determined, and daring, and I cannot admire you enough for that. Thanks for being cooler than I am, but still always making time for me.
So with all that said I will leave you with this: Take it all in. Enjoy yourself as you make these last few high school memories. Appreciate the people you get to create these moments with. Thank the teachers that have been there throughout your journey. Cherish all the celebrations. Remember to thank Mom and Dad. I love you, Booboo, and I am so proud to be your older sister.
XOXO,
Your Big Sister
