Having a role model is a very common thing. Most people would say their role model is a famous sports athlete or a celebrity. Not mine. My role model is someone I have only known for a little over a year. She is someone I just became really good friends with about two months ago. She is also only a year older than me.
My role model is my teammate, friend, and classmate Autumn. Autumn is the same major as me, journalism. Although we are in different types of journalism (I'm studying public relations and she is studying broadcast), she is someone I hope to become.
Autumn is very involved with broadcast. Her resume is probably five pages long. Between television, working behind the scenes, radio and film, Autumn does it all and does it well. I hope to be just as active and well-rounded in PR as she is in broadcast.
Autumn is also thriving in her career path. She's already working on a major television network as a junior in college. I hope to be half as successful as Autumn is at age 20.
Autumn, thank you for pushing me to do my best.
Thank you for proofreading my articles and papers.
Thank you for preparing me for interviews and making sure I am ready for anything.
Thank you for going over my resume and helping me making it perfect.
Thank you literally helping me with anything I ask you.
Thank you for being my teammate and staying positive on and off the lacrosse field. Thank you for suggesting we become the co-chair public relations officers for the team because I've already learned so much from it.
Thank you for always encouraging me and calling me with little things that always make my day! Your confidence and hard work inspires me to dream big and never ever give up.
A role model doesn't have to be someone who is super famous, although Autumn is well on her way to being a famous news anchor. They can be one of your best friends and I'm not sure where I'd be without Autumn and all of her help.
