To My Perfect Guy

I can't wait to see how amazing you are.

I’m not sure if I’ve met you yet, but, I think about you all the time. I wonder what your last name is, what you look like and if you’re as crazy as me and want five kids. I imagine our love story and how beautiful it will be; I imagine our wedding day looking at you and knowing that you’re my forever. I imagine growing old with you and looking back on my life before you and wonder how God blessed me with someone as great as you. Until I actually meet you, here’s a couple qualities I picture you having.

1. A Big Heart

I need someone who is compassionate, loving and caring. Someone who goes the extra mile just to benefit me or our relationship. Someone who knows my heart and would never do anything to hurt it. I’m also a very emotional person. With that being said, whether I’m crying because me and my mom got in a fight, because Walmart is out of my favorite flavor of ice cream or because a character died in the movie I’m watching, I need you to hug me and tell me everything is going to be OK.

2. A Great Sense Of Humor

I love to laugh, play pranks and joke about everything. I need you to play along with me. I need you to be able to tell when I’m being sarcastic and most importantly, I need you to make me laugh when I’m having a bad day.

3. You Have To Love Kids

(This one is nonnegotiable.) You have to love kids. When the time comes I want us to be so excited that were having a baby. I want us to be aware of what an amazing gift from God this is and that we need to pray that God will prepare us to be incredible, God loving parents. I picture you taking the boy / boys on hunting and fishing trips, teaching them all about sports and taking our little girl / girls on “Father-Daughter” dates. I picture you being the best dad in the world.

4. A Relationship With Jesus

I need someone who seeks Jesus every day, who loves Him more than anyone and anything. I need someone who pushes me to be the best Christian that I could be. Someone that encourages me to be patient and trust in God’s plan. Someone that will teach our kids how to pray and read the Bible to them. Someone that I can pray with before meals, at night and at church. Someone that understands church on Sunday’s is a need rather than an obligation.

5. An Animal Lover

We need a dog. It’s not a want, this is a very real need. Dogs are the cutest; they’re sweet, cuddly and a great companion. As my perfect guy, you’re pretty much obligated to say, “Yes,” to a dog.

6. Commitment

I need you to stay through the good and bad. We’re going to have our fights and disagreements, but were going to get past that. I want someone who will fight for me and for us no matter what. There’s going to be many times where we want to kill each other, but that’s OK. It’s not always going to be sunshine and rainbows, we’re going to have a lot of storms to get through. The important thing is getting through the bad together, which I know we can do. For better or for worse, right?

7. You Have To Love My Family

I have a very big, crazy, loving family. They will embarrass you and make fun of you, but it’s all because they love you. As long as you drink beer and like Cajun food and music they will like you. Even though I’m taking your last name, in a way, you’re becoming a Soileau.

Welcome to the family.

8. A Need For Spontaneous Adventures

Please ride roller coasters and sky dive with me. Make 2 a.m. trips to McDonalds with me even though neither one of us need fast food. Let’s travel together and take a lot of pictures. Let’s take weekend trips to wherever just to explore. Hiking, snow skiing, mountain climbing, white water rafting, the list goes on and on. I need someone who likes spontaneous adventures just as much me.

I know God will place you in my life when He’s ready. Until then, I’m praying for you and for your journey. I can’t wait to meet you because I know you’re going to be awesome.

"I'm going to pray for you until I can pray with you."

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
