Dad, you have been there for me through thick and thin. You’ve seen me at my worst and at my best, but no matter what you have been by my side through it all. You’ve supported me through every decision (even if it was stupid) and cheered me on all the way. During basketball season I could always count on you to be there, sitting in stands, almost having a heart attack because you were just as nervous as I was. After the game, we’d talk about how much we dislike the other team, what I need to work on and what my team needs to work on. You helped me to better understand the game and to really love it. I always appreciated you screaming at the top of your lungs at the game. Mom would get embarrassed but I always appreciated the yelling. To me, it meant that you were there and that’s all that mattered. You’ve never missed a game during my basketball career which started since I could walk and I am grateful for that. Some of the best memories I have of us are the ones where we are either in the driveway or the gym shooting. You’ve taught me many skills that I still use today even if they aren’t on the basketball court. For example, discipline is one that you’ve instilled in me. I would have to do everything at 110 percent whether it was basketball or homework. All of my skills would have to be used to their fullest. You taught me that and I hope one day I can teach my kids that as well. Now, I know my basketball career didn’t end the way you wanted it to, but I’m truly grateful that you supported me through it all. It was hard on both of us, but it was for the best. After basketball was over, you were there to support me through my school. You encouraged me on my college decisions and I couldn’t be more grateful for that. All of your support and most importantly love has made me want to marry a man just like you. You have set a basis for what I want for in a husband. I pray every day that God brings me a man just like you and nothing less. You work hard to support us and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’m thankful that you have been there for me through it all. You’re truly the most important man in my life. Whether I show it or not, I appreciate everything you do for me. You’ve always been my #1 fan no matter and I love you for it. Thank you dad, I love you more than you ever know.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
