To My New College

I have grown much in the year I've spent with you

To My New College

So hi. I was introduced to you at an early age. I grew up knowing about you and knowing a lot of what you had to offer. However, I also knew that I didn’t want to attend you. I didn’t want to stay at a place so close to home.

Thus, I applied to other universities, and the university I finally decided on moved me away from everything I had previously known. It was a nice change of pace there.

But it couldn’t last. I came home.

I took online classes and got a job. And I slowly died as loneliness reverberated throughout my being.

It finally got to the point where I came to an ultimatum: either I would move back onto the campus of my old school, or I would simply transfer to a different one.

As is quite apparent at this time, I chose the latter. I chose you.

I chose you for several reasons.

  1. I had friends here.
  2. I could save money by commuting to school.
  3. You were close to my work.
  4. I could still attend classes on campus.

Now, a year removed from when I made the decision, I can truly say that it was the best decision I could have made. Over the past two semesters, I have been able to excel in my classes and meet people who share common interests. I have been able to join groups that develop me individually and allow me the opportunity to perform in a more collectivistic atmosphere.

I would like to thank you for all that you have allowed me to do and I would like to thank you for being there to accept me when I was struggling with various difficult decisions. It has been a long road that brought me here and I am thankful for every moment that you have been there to support me in my journey.

I look forward to where I can go upon your wings and I pray that I will not forget your influence as I move into the turbulent waters of my undecided future.

Thank you again and I pray that you continue to bless other students who struggled in the same ways that I have.

Have a wonderful day
