To My Low-Maintenance Friends

Thank you for being you.

To My Low-Maintenance Friends
Natalie Bondarenko

I am pretty sure most people have once had, or has the friend they are with 24/7. They do everything together, go everywhere together and are literally never apart. Sounds exhausting. Now, I’m not saying there is anything wrong with those kind of friendships. However, I am personally not a fan. I love to do my own thing, I like my space, my time and even sometimes, believe it or not, I LOVE being alone. I appreciate and cherish the friendships I have with the people that no matter how much time we have spent apart, or not spoken, or not spend every waking minute together, when we meet for coffee, or go on a weekend trip or whatever, nothing has changed and our friendship is just as great as it’s always been. To my low-maintenance friends out there, you get me. Thank you, and you’re the best.

1. They never stray.

When someone is a real friend, you just know. It is such a reassuring feeling, and a low-maintenance real friend is even better. They are doing their own thing, and you are doing your own thing. Even though you may both be busy a lot of the time, and do not talk or spend as much time together as you would like; at the end of the day, you both know you are always there for each other and the friendship has not diminished a bit.

2. You never have to apologize for missed time.

We're both now adults, as scary as that sounds. We have school, homework, jobs, personal things and tons of other responsibilities. Plans may get canceled last-minute, or our schedules may not mesh very well, but we don't take it personally. We get it. The missed time will always be made up and nobody's feelings are hurt.

3. Distance ain't got nothing on us.

Whether we are 20 miles from each other, or 200, we're tight. Thank you for showing me friendship isn't always about physically being together all the time, but emotionally there for each other. You are still a friend I can tell all my secrets to, that won't judge me, and that I can just talk to about that weeks episode of "The Bachelor" or what color I should paint my nails.

4. Thank you.

Thank you for always picking up the phone when I randomly call to chit chat at 1 a.m. Thank you for always being there for me when I need you, hearing me out and having my back. Thank you for understanding that plans may fall through sometimes, but neither of us take it to heart because it's not a huge deal. Finally, thank you for being you. You are the best and please, never leave my side. Love you long time.

Low-maintenance friends are the best friends.

Dedicated to: Savannah, Jessica, Lindsey, Kari, Alisha and Tessa.

College is a time of gaining independence, exploring new things, and copious amounts of Netflix. If you're like me, you often find yourself laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of the situations you find yourself in. Here are ten times Bob's Burgers accurately captured college life.

1. What you're pretty sure your upstairs neighbors do at 3am every morning.

Theater Kids

Throughout school, the theater department has always been my go-to place with go-to people when I need advice, a dance party, or just someone to listen to me vent.

You never know what's going to happen when you're dealing with theatre or what kind of characters you'll encounter. We have too much fun doing anything! One time in my senior year acting class, we spent an entire class period watching Bob's Burgers, and it was the greatest class period ever.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.
