To my long lost best friend, I found in college,
I know they say that God works in mysterious ways and I can truly say seeing you again after 14 years was a God send. We were best friends in pre-school, we have countless pictures from our 4K pumpkin patch field trip, my cowgirl themed birthday party, and our countless dress up days at our preschool. But when “real school” started we went our separate ways. We lived on opposite sides of town and didn’t keep in touch.
Fast-forward 14 years, I’m walking into my dorm room and I see a familiar face. We made awkward eye contact took a selfie so I could send it to my mom and went up to our rooms. Who would of thought that now we would be best friends. We are together all the time, everyone on campus knows that we come as a package deal, we finish each other sentences, share clothes, study together, eat together, have sleep-overs in each other’s rooms every night…and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
I don’t think that it’s a coincidence that out of all the school we could have chosen to go to school that we both picked a little Christian college in the middle of Anderson County, and that out of all the places we could have lived it worked out that you lived on the floor below me.
Now as we finish our freshman year of college I wanted to thank you for always being there for me. Thank you for staying up with me all night to redo my English portfolio after my hard drive crashed, thank you for always splitting wings with me when we go to Wild Wings, thank you for always proofreading my essays, for dragging me out of bed for my 8 a.m.’s every morning. Thank you for always picking up the phone, for singing with me in the car, for obsessing over cooking shows with me, for always listening to me, and for laughing at all my jokes…even if you’ve already heard them a hundred times. I could go on forever, but most importantly thank you for being my best friend.
Some things never change and I’m glad that college brought us back together.
I love you most,
Your long lost best friend that you found in college
