To My Little's Future Little

To My Little’s Future Little,

I may not know who you are yet, but I DO know that I’m going to love you! I am so excited that you decided to join Gamma Phi and be involved in a sisterhood that is the definition of genuine and accepting. These girls, regardless of age or pledge class, will quickly become your support system. And although it may seem overwhelming at first, you’ll realize that this is definitely the place where you’re supposed to be.

For me, big/little reveal was an experience that made me truly feel like I was starting to belong in our sorority. When I got my big and when I got my little, I felt like I found those rare people that just got me. And lucky for you, you just so happened to get the best big ever! I know this because your big is my little. (AKA you’re turning me into a grandma now #cringing, but that’s okay).

As the newest addition to the fam, I want you to know that you have a tiny army behind you now. Not only did you just get a big, you inherited generations of girls who love you and will support you! We’re all unique, love going on fam dinner dates, and are pretty hilarious if you ask me. So don’t be afraid to reach out to me, your great-grandbig, or anyone else in our fam if you need anything!

Not to be extra, but I would even go so far as to say that you joining this fam had a little something to do with fate. I think it’s so special that out of all of the sororities on campus and the hundreds of girls within those sororities, you found your perfect match here with my little. There’s nothing quite like the bond between big and little, and I can’t wait to see you two support one another and grow throughout your time in college. I'm so excited to meet you!!

Love,

Your Grandbig

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
