Dear Boss,
There are many things on my resume that I am proud of. My accomplishments as a scholar and my academics as a whole, I'm sure will impress you. If my grades do not impress you, the numerous clubs and positions I have held during my time as a scholar will prove my worth in many aspects. Throughout the rest of my resume you will find my work experience, which can be backed up by my various references, and will attest to my exceptional work as an employee. I am not writing this letter to you to express my value as an employee, which you can clearly see from what I have mentioned above. I am writing to you to tell you about the many things that you will not be able to see from my resume, the many things that I think you would value more than my grades and previous work experience.
Looking at my resume, you wouldn't know that I am a great friend. If you needed a ride to or from the airport, or to watch your dog or cat, or to wing-man for you when you get dumped, I would do that. You probably don't know that I am a great son, and sibling. You wouldn't be able to tell that I can be the life of the party, family gatherings, even corporate retreats. You also cannot see that I am a very amiable human being in general, and that I enjoy holding the door for strangers, and helping old ladies with their groceries at the store. I keep my space very clean. I'm a great cook, and I love to host for friends at my house. If you were to get in an accident, I would visit you in the hospital, and not just like, "Hey you're my boss, here's a card, get well soon," I'd actually mean it. I am very diverse person, who loves getting in touch with people of every sort. The list can go on and on, but I think this shall suffice for now.
You see, there are many things of which I am proud of on my resume. However, I am much more proud of the things I do off of my resume, the things that you cannot measure and place a value on. These things, well, they set me apart from the rest of the candidates, I'm sure. I hope you take these things into consideration as you review my resume, and I look forward to speaking with you in the future.
Sincerely,
Brandon
