To My Friends

"Unexpected friendships are the best ones."

To My Friends

Meeting you wasn't an accident.

You came into my life so suddenly I didn't know what was happening.

All I knew was I was meeting someone special.

They always say that in order to be okay you need at least one good friend, but they never say how blessed you are when you have many good friends. With my friends I have the whole world.

Nicole,

You came into my life with a lot of noise and cuss words. I've always admired you for your strength and honesty. You keep my head on straight, and make sure I'm doing the right things.

Christina,

You came into my life a little more quietly, but you never failed to impress me. You are extremely athletic and good at everything you do. Your happiness always makes me happy and carries me through.

Sabri,

You were a friend at first sight, literally. We've been through some crazy stuff and even more fun stuff. We couldn't be any more opposite but somehow we make it work. I would be lost without you in many things, especially in high school.

Isa,

You still being around after all Anne and I have put you through says a lot about your loyalty. You're one tough gal and I know when I'm weak I can lean on you.

Ethan,

You randomly chose to sit with us and even to this day I can't understand why. You were quiet but after a few weeks of playing ping pong, you and Paul finally started joking around. You never fail to make me laugh at least once a day, most likely more.

Paul,

We met you at ping pong, but everyone knows who Paul is. You are such a down to earth guy even though you could be like any other football jock. Your relationship along with Ethan's show us girls what we should wait for. Thanks for being a role model in that way. You guys honor your girlfriends in a way I haven't seen very many young men do and it's inspiring.

Nate,

I could say the same about you that I can say about Paul and Ethan. You guys have stepped up as brothers and friends to show us what it looks like to be a good guy. I know me and the other girls will understand how a guy should treat a girl by the way you guys treat your girlfriends.

Amos,

I've known you for awhile now and every day you're full of surprises. You always irritate me the way you can't see how amazing you are. You have listened to me when I have been at my lowest and still stayed by my side. You mean a lot and without you I wouldn't have anyone else call me when I'm dead asleep.

I could keep going, there's still many people in my life who have always been there. My Family, Michaela, Casey, and Tim and even more. I am beyond blessed and that's not an understatement.

There's a quote that goes like this, "meeting you was like listening to a song for the first time and knowing it would be my favorite."

I can't thank you enough but know this, I'll always be there for you. If it means getting you ice cream, you got it. If it means writing you quotes to keep that smile on your face, you got it. Even if it means silently standing by your side when you need to rage, or cry, you got it. I will be there for you, because I know you're here for me. This is for you all. Thanks for being that favorite song in my life, that makes me sing.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
