You bring out my inner child

To My Friends That Keep Me Young

Friends come and go as the years go by. Sometimes I think about how life would be so different if some old friends were still in my life. I never realized how much my friends help shape who I am and how far I've come as a person. I think the friend I am most thankful for is the one that keeps me feeling young. I'm not even that old yet and I already need someone who constantly keeps me on my feet.

Personally, I like to go to bed early, eat applesauce, and can be considered the mom of my friends. Fun fact, I also like to keep hard candy in my bags. I definitely don't have a personality of an average young adult, at least not when I'm by myself.

Those few friends who act like a five-year-old with me make me realize I love acting like a kid! I like messing with people and jamming to songs I listened to when I was in first grade. The jokes we make, the fact we love to play Jenga, and that they will join me in the most ridiculous dance parties allows me to not act my age for just a few hours.

That was the best part about being a little kid. I didn't have to pay attention to time or how funny I looked trying to dance. I just thoroughly enjoyed being with my friends. And now that I have found people who mirror how I feel now makes growing up so much more fun.

I do have my more serious friends and I love them just as much as the others, but the friends that can take me back to my old carefree self, hold a special place in my heart. They helped me grow from a shy person to a person who will express themselves and not care how clumsy or childish I look or feel. Mainly because they look just as insane as I do or they make me laugh from how much fun I am having.

I won't be young forever, but I can always go back to that feeling when I'm with my friends that keep me young.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).
