To My Friend Who Doesn't Know Her Worth

I know, the title isn't exactly how you would like to be described, but bare with me. You truly don't understand how much you mean to me.

First, let me start by thanking you. Thank you for accepting me, for making me laugh, for always being there and supporting me. We haven't been friends for long, but I know you're here for life. It's amazing how somebody just shows up in your life and it becomes so much brighter because of them. You have opened my eyes to so many things. Thank you for teaching me how to be unconditionally myself. You came into my life at a time when I had a hard time accepting myself, but you really helped me to do so. I don't know if you quite understand the impact you had on me in such a short time. You've helped me become nicer and more accepting of people. I understand more about people and what they might be going through.

I want you to know that no matter what life throws at you, I'm only a text away. I will support whatever decision you make in order to create your own happiness. I will always be here for you, and I know that's cliche and cheesy, but sometimes cheesy is the only thing to say. You have become a huge part of my life and my heart, and I honestly hope that you remain that way. I'm finding myself at a loss of words trying to tell you how grateful I am for you. You have brightened my world so greatly that there are moments I swear I'm on the sun.

I often wonder how somebody could be so selfless and kind. You never hesitate to help me out when I need it. It doesn't matter if it's taking notes when I miss class, giving me boy advice, listening to me rant, or even if I just need help picking out which selfie is the best. You are so beautiful, inside and out. Your smile could end a power outage, and I swear you somehow captured the stars in your eyes. However, on top of all this, your soul is just as radiant. You can brighten somebodies darkest day and not even realize it. Ask anybody who truly knows you, and they will all say the same. Whenever I talk to somebody about you, I can't help but mention how sweet you are. Little secret for you, everybody who meets you always agrees with me. You're one of the most wonderful people I have ever met.

There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you, and thank the Lord for allowing such a beautiful soul into my life. You touch the hearts of everybody you meet. There is no word to describe how greatly you have enriched my life. I have no idea how I got so lucky to have such a selfless, kind hearted, beautiful person in my life, but I'm glad I do. I am truly blessed to call you a friend. I love you, oh so dearly, and I hope you know just how much now.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
