To my forever friends… you know who you are:

There are friends that come and go as quickly as you can blink your eyes. There are friends that come into your life and stay for a short period of time before leaving you for good. Then there are a select few who have been your friends for a very long time, your best friends, the ones that have been there through everything, thick and thin, big and small and never left… these are your forever friends.

It took me so long to realize how lucky I truly am to have not one but numerous forever friends. I never realized what a forever friend meant. This is a person in your life that you can go days, months, or years without seeing or talking to and they are still one of the most important people in your life. I am one of the lucky girls to have forever friends that I can rely on all the time no matter what. I may not see them every day, it may only be when we go to visit each other, it may only be when we are home on breaks, but there is not a day that goes by where I do not think of each and every one of them. I know that no matter what is going on, I can always text that group chat and get an answer from every single one of them.

Forever friends are not the type of friends that sugar coat things to make you feel better. They tell you the truth and then have your back when the truth hurts because they know what is best for you. These people always have your best interests at heart and they care about you more than you will ever know. I love that I have these types of people in my life because even if the truth hurts, I know it will be better for me in the end. My forever friends are the ones that I turn to at all hours no matter what the topic. I always know that there will be no judgment no matter what I say (okay maybe a little judgment but it’s all in good fun). There are times when we are serious with each other and more times when we just enjoy each other’s company.

My forever friends are the ones that I can just kick back with. I can be myself no matter how crazy that seems to other people. I can be completely content just hanging out in a living room talking about life for hours and hours. Even when we haven’t seen each other in a while, it is like we haven’t missed a beat when we get together. That’s what forever friends are for. There is no awkwardness because you tend to know each other better than you know yourself. You know what they are going to say. You know what they have done. You know everything before they even tell you and it is just a part of your relationship because you know each other so well.

My forever friends have seen me at my best and they have seen me at my worst and I wouldn’t change a thing. I have been on top of the world and they have supported me all the way there. I wouldn’t have been as successful as I have been without their support and guidance to get me there. They know more about me than I know about myself. But along with the good, a forever friend knows how to handle you at your worst. When it comes to hitting rock bottom every now and then, my forever friends are the ones that I turn to for the support that I need. I always know that there will never be any judgment from them. Even if it is just something stupid that I may be upset about, I know that they are only a phone call away to listen to me cry and talk me through whatever it is that I am going through. I know I can count on them for anything that life throws at me good or bad.

My pledge to my forever friends:

No matter where life takes us I promise you that I will always be here. That is what forever friends are for. No matter if we have not talked in hours, months, or years, I will always only be a phone call away. I promise to be there to laugh with you. I promise to be there to cry with you. I promise to be there when you need a helping hand of any kind. I promise to always treat you as though you are my family. I promise to always talk everything out. I promise to hold your hand when you’re on top of the world so you don’t fall down. I promise to pull you out of that deep dark hole shall you ever fall in. I promise to be there for all of your life accomplishments. I promise to be anywhere that you want me to be. You are my forever friends so forever it shall be.

Thank you for being my forever friends. Forever is a long time, so always remember what a blessing you truly are to me.

My forever friends aren’t just my best friends; they are more like my sisters.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
