Everyone has that one friend who they call their forever friend. You may have three or four friends who you tell everyone are your best friends. They are the people you give day-to-day updates that range from how badly class was or how cute the guy at Walmart was. You may have known your best friend for a year, three years, or even seven years.
Not a day goes by that I do not miss you like crazy. I hate that we go to two different schools in two different states, but I know that it has brought us even closer. We may not talk every single day; we may not talk for a week, but when we do talk it is like we never stopped talking. It is like we are in a long distance relationship, to be honest.
Although I have not seen you in months I just want you to know you are always on my mind. We come and go, in and out of each other's lives. And even though I am not with you every weekend, and I do not know what you are always up to, I want you to know that I love you regardless.
As we enter adulthood, we learn how quickly you can lose friends and not just friends, but people you once considered as a best friend. But with you, it is not even a question of what terms we are on. It is so easy for us to pick right up where we left off the second we see each other. We laugh until we cry like distance and time has not been a factor between the two of us. You are like family to me. I value our relationship more than you know. I will cherish it forever. When we do get the chance to see each other, it always becomes one of my favorite times. Although we can sit in silence and not even say a single word, it is just being in the presence of each other and getting to spend time together.
Thanks for always answering the phone on the first ring, even when I am just wanting to talk to someone on my way to class. Thanks for always being the first person to like my instagram post and commenting on it. Thanks for always making sure 1 person retweets and likes my tweet. Thanks for answering the phone when I am home alone and think my house is haunted.
As we grow up, people allow time and distance to become a barrier as an excuse for a relationship to end and fail. But with you, I know that there will be no problem. The future will bring uncertainty, like will we move back closer to each other, or farther apart? Where will I be in my life or who will I marry? Of the many things I will wonder, the one thing I am certain about, is that you will be by my side celebrating with me. Your name will be reserved and on the invite list on the wedding day I am not sure when that will happen. But more than anything, your name is forever on my heart for everything you have done for me. Thank you for all the love you have given me.
I can only hope that I have impacted your life, the same way you have mine.
Love,
Your Forever Friend
