To My Favorite Fur Baby

There's nothing better than looking into those gorgeous, big green eyes and seeing home.

To My Favorite Fur Baby

A few months before I left for Iowa State University, I posted about missing my cat next fall.

The post began with the quote, "What greater gift than the love of a cat?" by Charles Dickens.

Then I continued on to say, with multiple pictures of my feline friend, "Thanks for always being the highlight of my day. Life will be so rough without your cuddles next fall."

I could not have been more accurate.

I'm aware it is unfair for a fur mama to pick her favorite baby, but I just can't help it. There's always something about that first initial love, right?

So, to my favorite fur baby,

Thank you for our moments of content before bed, where you comfort me to sleep with your superb purr. Your purr is what I miss most about being away from home.

Thank you for choosing me. I know my siblings aren't your favorite, but I'm glad I made it on that list. Our cuddles mean the world to me.

Thank you for our beautiful breakfast dates every morning when I'm home from college. There are few things in life I enjoy more than saving that last bit of milk for you to drink out of the bowl.

Thank you for being my best friend, whom I can count on to always be there to listen to my day and stay by my side when needed most.

Thank you for being the most beautiful black and white baby in the world. There's nothing better than looking in those gorgeous, big green eyes and seeing home. I'll see you soon, big boy.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
