To My Common Room Girls

To My Common Room Girls,

Thank you. Without you, I am not sure how I ever would have survived freshman year. Thank you for the endless laughs and naps that always lasted too long. Thank you for making trillers, accidentally breaking chairs, binging movies, escaping the bubble, and making daily C-Store runs with me. But don't worry Mom & Dad, we studied too :) There is no one else I would ever want to get noise complaints with, or just about die on the swing with. Each and every one of you are so incredibly special, and make my life so much better. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and that we all started spending time in the common room because we are meant to be lifelong friends (ps can't wait for your weddings!!). The common room truly became our place. We have spent too many hours to count out there, but it is the place where we all came together; to laugh, to rant, to procrastinate, but more than anything to feel whole. When life gets busy, and I don't get to come over one day, I feel as though I am missing something; a part of me. You bring endless smiles and joy into my life, and for that I am forever grateful. Thank you for going to chapel with me, for suffering through the cafe with me, and for always keeping me up to date with the ~wom com drama~. From surprises in Charlotte, to Plato's closet trips, dunks runs, and all of the other spontaneous adventures, I loved every second. Even when we lost power, we danced in the rain during the hurricane, and made the most out of every second. Without y'all life would be boring.

From walks to class to late night drives and everything in between, I will never ever forget the memories we made together. I don't quite know how we are supposed to go a summer without each other.... so it's time we start booking flights and planning road trips! If they fix the common room door to lock again, and we can't get in to wom com next year, we will just have to figure it out, and find a new place, because the common room is wherever you are <3

Love you all endlessly, thank you for an unforgettable freshman year.

Much Love,

Hannah Rose

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
