To My Boys

Thank you both for everything you have been for me.

To My Boys

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always wanted a brother. I mean don't get me wrong, my sister is my heart, soul, and entire world - I would never give her up for anything, but something about having a brother always seemed so cool to me.

Maybe it was because I played a ton of sports or maybe it was because I grew up hanging out with the boys (I owned the WWE Smackdown vs. Raw video game; I was literally a little boy). Whatever the reason was, I always wanted an older brother.

Little did I know that I would one day have two.

I am forever grateful for the friends that I have made over the years...especially for the two boys who have undoubtedly changed who I am for the better.

The story of how I met these two goofballs is one hundred percent the least important piece of our friendship. The important thing is what they have been for me and who they are to me now.

They are more than friends - they are the brothers that I always wished for.

No matter what has happened to me in the past five plus years they have been the first two people by my side. They have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

They watch over me. They are honest with me.

We spend holidays and special occasions together because that is what families does.

We are family.

They have been there with me; smiling, laughing, crying, you name it.

Not many people know me as well as the two of them do - I don't often share much of myself. For me to open myself up to you, you have to earn my trust. Frankly, there are few people one earth that I trust more than these two.

I will always be thankful for you both. Between the lazy nights at your house watching you play NHL, late night drives to IHOP (just because I want pancakes), and everything in between, I am eternally appreciated for all the time that we have been able to spend together.

Thank you for always watching over me, for caring about me, for making me laugh, for being my brothers.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
