To My Boyfriend's Parents

You both are wonderful.

To My Boyfriend's Parents
Taylor Whitsel

I want to start off by saying thank you for everything you've done over the past 20+ years to raise such an amazing man who I am so honored to be in love with and to have in my life. Without you two, he wouldn't be who he is today.

They say a bond between a mother and a son is one like any other and from seeing you two interact, I believe it whole heartedly. It makes my heart full when he talks about you and the amazing person you are and all that you've done for him over the years. I know he loves you by the way you two can goof off and when he hugs you and says "I love you" before we go anywhere. Through you, he's seen a godly woman who raised him into the man he is today.

The bond between a father and a son is unique as well and I must say you two definitely fall into that category. You pick on each other like brothers, but at the end of the day I know he loves you with his whole heart, even when he tries to be a tough guy. I love watching y'all constantly pick and nag on one another and to see how supportive you are in all he does.

I want to say thank you both for raising a son that loves the Lord and his family more than anything else. Thank you for showing him a great example of marriage and for showing him how to be a gentleman. You have taught him how to love without ceasing, how to forgive, how to work hard, and how to the love the Lord – all things that he shows to me day in andday out. Thank you for supporting him and pushing him to be the best he can be in all he does in life and for teaching him to never give up. All of these things you have taught and shown him over the years have made him into an amazing man, who I am so grateful to love.

Not only do I want to thank you for raising your son in the right way and doing a great job, but I also want to say thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family. Thank you for welcoming me in and being so loving towards me. I was so nervous to meet you both because I know family is a big deal, but you two (and the rest of the family) are wonderful. Thank you for sharing laughs with me and allowing me to be a part of all of your family events, both big and small. Lastly, thank you for allowing me to love your son. Your support and love through our relationship means the world to both of us and I am so thankful I am able to experience life with him, but with you all as well. I have the upmost gratitude, respect, and appreciation for you both.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

sisters

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
