To My Biggest Support Groups

Thanksgiving is a time for reflecting on all of the wonderful things in our life, but I think our biggest mistake is waiting until Thanksgiving to do it. We should always be expressing our thanks. We shouldn’t wait until November to do it. People should know how grateful we are for them. We should be a more grateful society.

I wanted to take some time and share how thankful I am for three amazing support groups I have in my life. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving I wanted to say thank you to:

1. The Lord of My Life:

Thank you for changing my heart. Thank you for showing me that there is more to life than what I was living. Thank you for calling me to do amazing things through your guidance and strength. Thank you for continuously challenging me every day because you make me a stronger person. Thank you for never leaving my side and always reminding me that you are in control no matter how difficult things may be. Thank you for living a blameless life and dying for my sin. Thank you for loving me even though I didn’t deserve it.

2. My Family:

Thank you for pushing me and stretching me and testing me because all you’ve wanted was to see me succeed. Thank you for being the first people to congratulate me and the first people to pick me up when fail. Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. Thank you for being my number one fans. Thank you for helping me become the best version of myself that I could be. Thank you for never giving up on me and for always helping me make the most out of every situation. Thank you for loving me when I wasn’t easy to love.

3. My Crazy Friends:

Thank you for always celebrating milestones with food and ice-cream (yes, ice-cream has its own food group in our book). Thank you for the road trips and for always reminding me that I am beautiful no matter what people say. Thank you for showing me that life is more enjoyable when you’re singing at the top of your lungs. Thank you for the late night talks and making me laugh until I can’t breathe and tears are streaming down my face. Thank you for never judging me for eating just one more cookie. Thank you for loving me as I am and for never wanting to change me.

I couldn’t be more thankful for the people that God has placed in my life. A lifetime of thanks will never be enough to show you all how grateful I truly am, but I’ll try my best to show you. Thank you!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
