Dear BFF,

It’s crazy to think that we only met during high school. (Or maybe it was a blessing we didn’t know each other during those awkward middle school years.) We made so many memories over those four years. Friday night football games, stories of teachers and our random hangouts created some great laughs. I remember standing in the rain at our senior picnic thinking how lucky I was to have meet you all. Each and every one of you has impacted my life in a positive way. Whether it was becoming my best friend because we literally had every other class together or photobombing a picture and becoming an instant best friend. I’ll be honest there’s some of you that I have no idea how we became friends but thankful we did.

With going away to college I wasn’t sure what the future had in store for our friendship. I’ve never been particularly good at staying in touch with people over long periods of time. College was a whole new ball park. We went from seeing each other every day to not seeing each other for month long periods. It was crazy to think the people I used spend a good majority of my week with, were no longer a major part of my day to day life. Being in different states along with, state versus private school, our breaks didn’t always match up. Some of you I haven’t seen in well over six months.

Sometimes I would remember to send a simple text or a snapchat, but it’s hard to remember something that isn’t present on a consistent basis. Thank goodness for Instagram and SnapChat stories because they were a helpful reminder to send a text. Some of us were better at keeping in touch, with a periodic phone call or skype. But at the end of the day it didn’t matter. There was still the understanding that we were friends and had one another’s back even if we spoke only occasionally.

I have absolutely loved coming home and getting to spend my summer with you guys. It’s awesome to see how a year away at college has changed each and every one of us, yet when we get together it’s like nothing has changed. Conversations come easily, laughter is frequent, and memories are created.

So here’s a thank you to the individuals that never cease to make me smile. You are honestly the greatest friends a girl could ask for. Miraculously we have made it through high school without killing one another and now have successful made it through our first year of college. Not everyone is in the cover photo, because it is honestly so hard to get all of us together at the same time, but every single one of you is an amazing friend in your own unique way.

Cheers to the next three years of adventures with you girls!

“Good friends are like stars, you don’t always see them, but they are always there.”

Love,

Your H.S. BFF

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
