Friendship knows no distance.

To My Best Friends Who Go To Different Colleges

It’s been about a month since I’ve last seen you and let me tell you, it’s nearly impossible not to see your face every day. Even though not being with you has been torturous, it has taught me a lot about our friendship, and what I’ve learned has only made me more grateful to have you in my life.

People say that when you go to college, you often lose touch with your friends from high school. When people said that to me, I couldn’t help but laugh because I knew that couldn’t be more untrue in the case of our friendship. Over the years we have had our fair share of ups and downs, but all of them have made us only closer- we know way too much about each other to not be in each other's lives.

With all that in mind, I knew college couldn’t change a thing. If anything, it has made us even closer. We’ve yet to miss a FaceTime date, still know every little detail about each other’s lives and have been there for each other no matter what time it is. That says a lot considering we’re on different time zones, and have continued to love each other unconditionally.

As much as I wish we were together, it has been so amazing to watch you kill it at school. I could not be more proud of you for what you’ve accomplished so far, and I know you only have bigger things in store for you. You’ve managed to adjust to a completely different environment, meet some pretty cool new friends (that I can’t wait to meet when I visit), notsleep through your 8 a.m.’s, stay somewhat sane, all while still being you. If anyone deserves an incredible college experience, it is you and I could not be happier that you are happy.

But above all, I want to thank you. Thank you for standing by me through thick and thin, tagging me in funny Instagram posts when you know I’ve had a rough day, helping me choose what to wear out, being brutally honest when I need it most, but most importantly being my people despite the distance.

I love you, I miss you and I most definitely cannot wait until I see you. You were my hardest goodbyes, but I absolutely know you will be my best hellos!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
