An Open Letter To My Best Friends.

You three know who you are.

An Open Letter To My Best Friends.

To my dearest friends,

Words cannot describe how utterly blessed I feel to have you by my side. Through thick and thin, you guys are always there for me no matter what and I cannot thank you enough for that. College has been made so easy to have you guys by my side. From wanting to go on a drive, to going to see the cows, to getting food, to needing to rant about something going on, and to wanting to do homework together, I know I can always text you and one of you will always be there to do it all with me. God really knew what he was doing when he placed us all together, not only in the same sorority, but also as best friends with an unforgettable bond.

I don't know how I ever lived a lifetime without the three of you.

Our personalities are all so different yet they mix so well together. I have never laughed harder than I do with you guys and if there is ever a day we don't see each other, it just feels so off and feels like forever has passed since I last saw you guys. There is never a dull moment, or any drama and that is honestly hard to find nowadays. But, I found this with you and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Our friendship is lifelong and I am so excited to watch you all grow. I have learned so much from each of you that has made me a better person and seeing you guys turn into the wonderful adults I know you are going to be will be something I will forever cherish. You all have impacted me in the best way possible and have made me a better person. You never put me down, you never make me feel like my worth is less than it is, and you never make me feel crazy even when I say I am going crazy. You guys treat me too good and I am too grateful to put into words the way it makes me feel to be so loved and appreciated.

Thank you. Thank you for being your wild selves and for loving me as much as I love you guys. We aren't ones to say this sappy stuff to each other, but if any of us were to, we all know it would be me to do it. I love you like family and wish you nothing but the absolute best in life. I will always be here to hold your head up, to scream songs in the car, and make you guys feel just as loved and cared for. You all are the true lives of the party and are all such bright rays of sunshine in mine and anyone else's life. So thank you. Thank you for being my sisters, my best friends, my future bridesmaids, and most of all my biggest supporters.

I could not do life without you guys. I will forever be proud to call you my best friends.

With all the love in the world,

~K

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
