To My Best Friend Since I Was 13

To My Best Friend.

Nanc, we met at OTC when I was 13 years old. Your workshop changed my life! Year after year we became closer and closer through your workshop, hanging out at camp and staying in touch throughout the year.

8 years later and you are my best friend! We are closer than ever. We know each other so well. I am so blessed to have you in my life!

We may live in different countries and we may have an age gap, but that does not stop us from being the best of friends! You are so special to me.

You've had my back since age 13 and please know that I will always have your back. We are so similar and teach each other many things about life. Your wisdom has guided me through the years and helped me grow as a person.

I am so thankful that you are in my life! Thank you for being there for me through thick and thin. When I first met you, I was attracted to your light. Your energy pulled me towards you and I knew that I needed you in my life.

Nanc, you are like family to me! I know we will always be in each other's lives. No matter how long it has been since we have seen each other or how long it is been since we have talked, we always pick up right where we left off. I know in my heart that we were meant to meet in this lifetime.

I am so thankful and grateful that our crossed paths when they did! We have seen each other through the ups and the downs and that's what has made our friendship strong because we have been there for each other through it all for the past 8 years. Your workshop bonded us and I believe that a lot of friendships/relationships grow or grow stronger because of your workshop because we understand each other better when we understand each other's challenges and we are there to support each other when breaking through our obstacles.

Your passion for what you do inspires me! You don't treat what you do as just a job, you truly love it and that is why you are so amazing at what you do and have changed so many people's lives including mine! You are an inspiration to me truly because of your passion for everything you do in your life.

This year as you know has been particularly hard for me and you have been there for me through it, thank you. I don't think I could have gotten through this year without you.

Thank you for reminding me about what it is important in life. I sometimes get stressed and put too much pressure on myself to be perfect, but you always remind me that doing what you love and being happy is what is really important.

I love you with all my heart, Nanc! You are one the kindest people I know with a big heart. You are a truly amazing soul and I am so thankful to call you my friend.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
