To My Best Friend On Her 18th Birthday

Welcome to “adulting”.

67

I can’t believe you are officially an adult! We may only be 1 year apart, but I feel like I have learned so much in the last year, it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t share it with you. Here are a few things I think you should know now.

#1- Using your I.D. to buy anything as an adult is not exciting for long. Soon it only reminds you that you’re an adult and have responsibilities.

#2- Making appointments and going to them alone is nerve wracking, confusing, & makes you realize you have no idea how to adult. That’s okay. I figure we will have it figured out by the time we are mothers.

#3- I know you don’t believe it now, but graduation will be here quicker than you can blink. Please enjoy these last few months being social and care-free. You’ll regret it if not.

#4- College-freaking-sucks. Sure you get treated like an adult and that’s great until nobody is holding your hand and you are lost and on the verge of tears. That’s okay too, you’ll get through it with plenty of coffee and carbs.

#5- Do NOT get a credit card. It’s a trap. Let’s just leave it at that.

#6- There really aren’t that many hotels that let you check in at 18. That’s frustrating but that means in someone eyes we are still children, let’s hold onto to our youth a little longer.

#7- I’m pretty sure time goes 5x as fast after you turn 18. Remember this. Make your life yours and enjoy it all you can.

#8- We may be “adults” but I’m convinced I know nothing about anything still. Should you ever feel this way, call me. I’d be happy to sit and drink coffee and cry with you, because chances are I’m probably feeling the same way.

Here’s to you, to being an adult, and to the rest of our lives learning things. 18 is here, but are we 21 yet??

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
