To My Best Friend

Dear Mom,

Thanks for being....well my mom.

Thanks for being there for me when I'm sad, happy, and even hangry. Thank you for being my rock in times of struggle and for being the person to help me back up when I hit rock bottom. thank you for being a great role model and setting a great example for what an extravagant woman can do.

I watched you go back to school and push yourself past your limits. I waited with you on those nights you thought you failed exams only to find out that you got a 4.0. I have watched you bust your ass inside and outside of work and act like it was nothing.

You are one of the most humble people I know. If I were to have met you in a different life I would have never guessed you live the way you do. You do things for people without expecting anything in return, sometimes too much, and I hate watching you get hurt.

You have made me realize that hard work pays off, and that sometimes I just need to bite the bullet.

You have made me realize that all the nights that I stay up studying and working will pay off one day. You have helped me make sense of all this chaos that life has thrown at me. You have made me realize that I am smarter than I pin myself to be and that I am capable of amazing things, just like you.

Mom, you are the reason I keep going.

I love our inside jokes and the way we can hang out like friends. I love that I can call you at any time of the day and you will answer. I love how goofy you are when it's just me and you chilling at home- like that day we watched 3 seasons of America's Next Top Model. I love that you always have my back when others don't, and know that I always have yours.

You deserve nothing but the best, whether it be in your career, education, or social life and I know you are capable of getting there.

Happy Birthday Lavey

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

school

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
