To My Best Friend

I will always love you.

To My Best Friend
Michelle Marie Messick
"We’re friends, real friends. And that means, no matter how long it takes, when you finally do decide to look back, I’ll still be there." - Meredith Grey
Although our lives are on two opposite spectrums.
I will always be here whenever you beckon.
Although college has got the best of us, and our friendship is shaking.
I need you to know that my love for you is never breaking.

I need to start off by saying thank you. I love you more than words can say, and I love writing so that's a lot of freaking words. I don't have excuses for the way life has treated both of us, but I cannot thank you enough for being there for me through the miles that keep us apart. I don't have the right quote or attempt at poem to make everything okay again. But I hope you know a couple of things...

You are the calm in the center of the chaos. You have been since I met you and I need you.

You have always been there for me whenever I didn't deserve it, or take the chance to appreciate it. I love being able to text you and know you are always there for me. It sucks knowing I can't call you and tell you what's going on with me in that particular instance without some kind of fear that you will reject my effort to reach out.

We are the definition of twisted sisters.

You and I both know our history is not perfect. Our track record is not easy, but we always find a way to come back to each other. Only the difference this time, is I'm not willing to wait months to fix things. Although twisted, we are not broken.

It broke my heart to leave you at home.

Hugging you one last time, the morning I left was one of my hardest goodbyes (second my dogs). Knowing I couldn't drive to your house or see you for weeks was so difficult; because we spent almost every waking moment with each other.

You make me a better person.

Maybe it's because you are my person, I don't know. Either way you are the Mer to my Christina, the Brooke to my Peyton and the Blair to my Serena.

I wish I could drive to come see you whenever I need to cry, or want to shop. I wish I could make fun of you with your parents anytime I wanted to, and I wish I could have a million more pool days with you. Although it is so difficult for me to be away from you, it makes the times I see you so much more special, even if I don't always show it.
Thank you for loving me through my awkward high school stages, I am your biggest fan no matter what happens. I will root for you until the Lord calls me home.
Although our lives have taken us in different directions, you are the very first person I call when I receive good news. You are the only person that I can go weeks without speaking to and pick up where we left off. You are the only person I would dance in front of the entire team with. Always dance it out, right?
Life is better with a best friend, but life means everything and more when your best friend is someone you have known since before you had to grow up. I am thankful I always know who to call to cheer me up, and I know that even though we go to different schools now...
Everyone deserves a friend like you.
I love you Michelle Belle.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
