We have a lot of friends but not a lot a best friends. It can be really hard to call someone your best friend. I knew when I met my best friend we were going to be great friends but I didn't know we were going to end up being best friends. My best friend is a very special person in my life. They are the first person I go to when I need someone to talk to. When I am sad they will always try their hardest to cheer me up. They give me the best hugs in the whole wide world! They are the shoulder to cry on, because I know that they truly care about me.

Dear Best Friend,

I know we are miles away from each other but we are never truly apart. We might not talk every day or see each other a lot but that doesn't matter. Even though we are in the different state and we each have our own lives we are still here for each other. We are always just a phone call or skype call away.

There is really no one else that I would rather be best friends with then you. You are my side kick. You are the peanut to my butter. You are the mac to my cheese. You are the sassy chick I need in my life. I know that we can be complete opposites but I think in a way we need.

I try and think what my life would be without and it was be so boring. You have brought so much adventure and joy in to my life. You have really pushed me to be a better me.

Thank you for being my best friend. When I was having a rough time you were always right by my side. Whenever I needed a shoulder to cry on you were there. Whenever I needed someone to talk to you were always there waiting to listen.

Thank you for dealing with me. I know I am a pain in the butt sometimes because I can never listen. But you still listen to me complain about everything. You still sit there to try and give me more advice. You even give me advice over and over again then still sometimes I don't even take. You just roll your eyes and wait for me to complain some more.

Thank you for making me laugh till I cry. I swear you are still one the funniest people I know. You are one of the only people that can still make me laugh whenever I am in the worst mood. Whenever we get together it is always a good time and we always have so much fun together.

Thank you for telling me the truth. You were and still are never afraid to sugar coat things just to make me feel better. You tell me how it is. You tell me what I need to hear.

Honestly, if it was not for you I do not think I would be the person I am today. You have made me a stronger person. You have inspired me to go out in the world and be my own person. You have made me see the true me. Thank you for being my best friends after all these years and being miles apart. I love you.

Forever and Always,

Your Best Friend

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
